Treatment for PTSD & Trauma

Safety, grounding, and healing — at your pace

Understanding trauma

Trauma can shape the way you think, feel, and respond to the world long after the event has passed. You may know exactly what caused it — or you may just feel “off,” overwhelmed, anxious, numb, or stuck without fully understanding why.

Trauma shows up in many forms:

  • Childhood abuse or neglect

  • Domestic or relational trauma

  • Medical trauma

  • Traumatic loss

  • Car accidents or sudden events

  • Witnessing violence

  • First responder or healthcare trauma

  • Substance use–related trauma

  • Religious or spiritual trauma

  • Emotional invalidation, chronic stress, or unsafe environments

Whatever you’ve been through, your reactions make sense. Therapy can help you understand them, feel safer in your body, and begin building a future that feels more grounded and manageable.

How trauma therapy can help

At The Northeast Resilience Center, we offer trauma-informed support designed to help you:

  • Reduce anxiety, hypervigilance, and emotional flooding

  • Understand triggers and develop grounding skills

  • Process memories that feel “stuck” or overwhelming

  • Rebuild trust in yourself and others

  • Strengthen emotional regulation

  • Heal the nervous system response to trauma

  • Move toward a life guided by your values instead of fear

  • Break cycles of avoidance, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm

Healing doesn’t have to be rushed — you set the pace, and we follow with care.

Our approach to Trauma & PTSD Therapy

A trauma-informed foundation

Every session is built on four core principles:

  • Safety

  • Choice

  • Empowerment

  • Collaboration

You are never pushed into anything before you're ready.

EMDR Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy used to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel overwhelming or “stuck.”

EMDR can help with:

  • PTSD

  • Childhood trauma

  • Sexual assault

  • Panic, anxiety, and phobias

  • Grief & complicated grief

  • Medical trauma

Benefits often include:

  • Increased sense of safety

  • More stable relationships

  • Greater ability to stay present

  • Improved emotional regulation

EMDR is always offered with pacing, preparation, and stabilization first, ensuring you feel supported and grounded throughout the process.

Additional therapeutic approaches

Along with EMDR, we incorporate:
